Anti-Corruption and Fraud in Africa
Anti-Corruption, Whistle-Blowing
IIB-DG adheres and promotes an anti-corruption and anti-bribery culture in all its operations.
IIB-DG implements adequate measures by developing internal policies and procedures that are designed to inhibit any corrupt practices.
The Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct serves as a paradigm for regulating any gift handing as well as for any conflict of interest management and whistle-blowing for disclosing any private company information.
Investigating Fraud, Corruption, and Misconduct
IIB-DG governs the professional conduct and ethical behavior of its employees, officials, and consultants through conducting appropriate investigations on any alleged misconducts. This is regulated by IIB-DG’s Office of the Chief Compliance Officer.
- Fraud, Corruption, and Misconduct – a definition
- Fraud – a criminal deceit or deception intended for self-gain.
- Corruption – the exploitation of public or private office for personal advantage.
- Misconduct – the negligence, whether intentional or otherwise, in adhering to the company policy and regulations.
The following lead to the abrasion of IIB-DG public confidence in political institutions and legal systems. Furthermore, they can result in the distortion of resource allocation, inflate spending on public procurement, and weaken market competition.
