Frecom: IIB-DG acquired Freecom in May 13, 2022 to deploy high speed affordable satellite internet across the entire African continent.Company Seeks to address the poor internet connectivity problem across Africa and make it very affordable. This project will provide an end-to-end solution for Voice, Data, and Mobile financial market in Africa bridging the connectivity gap between Africa and the rest of the world. Currently, Africa has the lowest number of internet connections – only 43.0 per cent of the continent has access as against 68.6 per cent of the rest of the world. It also has the largest potential for progress. The company will employ over 5000 people across Africa directly and over 20,000 people indirectly but over 1,000,000 enterprises will be impacted and the service will reach 170,000,000 end-users in 5 years.
