AGRICULTURE

Development project for perennial and food crops, livestock and agro-industry by SGP-C SARL acquired on July 13, 2022.

  1. Context and justification of the project. The destruction of the socio-economic fabric following bad governance has put an end to agricultural production for 25 years in the DRC. Of the 6,500 small and medium enterprises in the DRC in 1960, only 510 remain today. Consequence: from a country exporting agro-food products, the DRC has become a majority importer of all agro-pastoral products. There should be a revitalization of perennial and food crops as well as livestock which will be processed and packaged locally before being distributed and marketed to create new prosperity. This is the rationale for this project.
  2. Project objectives

Contribute to the economic growth of the DRC by increasing agricultural and pastoral production and processing products through an innovative agro-food industry.

  3. Specific objectives

    1. Cultivate perennial and food crop plants on 1,117,200 hectares.
    2. Raise cattle, swine, poultry and fish.
    3. Build and set up innovative agro-food factories for the processing and packaging of agricultural and livestock products.
    4. Distribute and market agricultural and livestock products on the local, regional and international market.
  4. Strategy

The strategy will combine: the mechanization of agriculture, the construction of micro hydroelectric power stations to supply infrastructures with electrical energy, the construction and assembly of processing plants for harvest and livestock products, the reopening and rehabilitation of roads of agricultural services as well as the construction and development of basic social infrastructure: health centers, schools and play areas (specifications of the communities owning the land). The exploitation of the value chain (zero waste) and the large-scale production of “Organic Products” for their local, regional and international marketing.
